Granite is a rock that can only be mined from granite rocks at the Western desert mining site south of the Bandit Camp in the Kharidian Desert. In this quarry, as elsewhere in the desert, desert heat will continually reduce the player’s Hitpoints unless the player has waterskins in inventory or is wearing the Desert amulet 4. The combination of Hitpoints cape and regen bracelet can also outheal the damage taken when wearing heat-protective gear, including a prospector kit. Varrock armour 2 or higher is recommended, as the chance to mine double ores works on granite.
A camulet provides a nearby teleport with the completion of hard Desert Diary. Alternatives include Pharaoh’s sceptre’s teleport to Jaldraocht and magic carpets.
A player must have Mining level of 45 or greater to mine granite, which yields the following experience shown below depending on the size the granite block mined.
Mining granite is some of the fastest Mining experience obtainable. It can be mined alongside Sandstone, decreasing the amount you have to move to mine the rocks, for roughly 70,000 experience per hour at 80+ and up to 85,000 at 99. With tick manipulation, this can be increased to 80,000 and 105,000 respectively.
Alternatively, when using tick manipulation to mine only granite, the rates can reach over 90,000 per hour at level 70 and up to 125,000 at 99. This is the fastest Mining experience obtainable as soon as level 45, but it is considerably more difficult than other methods due to the click intensity and accuracy involved. In general, powermining granite becomes the most efficient at around level 70 for most players.
A piece of granite (any size) is required in the quest King’s Ransom, and two 5 kg pieces of granite are required in the quest Enakhra’s Lament.
